Photo Blog 05: Clothes of Armor

Before the match, I look upon my suit of armor.. number "1"

Every time I see the proud colours of our jerseys, my spirits run high. Only when I wear it then my body is eager to clash with our opponents.

After warming up before the match, the jerseys are then left on the grass where we then carry our allocated numbers to the field. The proud number "1" brings out the readiness in me.

Deathly Hallows / Equinox

Sunday, July 29, 2007
I must have been too excited over Dee's visit to PTEB that I forgot to post some stuff on my latest happenings.

1
23 July 2007. After some torment by the hands of my sister, I finally read the latest Harry Potter book.
24 July 2007. More torture arrived when friends left and right are spoiling the ending. Very difficult day.
25 July 2007. Finished reading and was surprised of the many tragic ends of most of the characters. Gave a WTH look after reading the epilouge.

But a fitting ending, wished Rowling could have written a little more..
A story full of action and drama, with a lot of flashback on the previous books. Full of mystery and suspense. A book that dwells deeply into the plot. A beautiful read.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am now a contibutor to the Equinox newsletter. I wrote my articles and I hope to submit them on Monday.

What's funny though is that every junior member is assigned to a 'Boss', and I am the only member who doesn't know who my boss is. I thought I'd become at least a freelance journalist..
It all started when Jesse sent me a text message.
"Go to room 2.3 pls ryte now"

So after a brief Rugby meeting I went to room 2.3 to find an ongoing Equinox meeting and I have been unknowingly listed as the latest junior member. Luckily Jesse, Mina, Fiqah, Ummi, Naz, Caesar and the lot are there.

On our second meeting, I asked our editor Izyan about my article's content.
"Can I write cruel, critical and contraversial content in my work"
She replied, " Only when it's true"

Coolness

HoooHA!

HoooHA!
What does it mean? Not sure
But when I'm in a very happy mood, I'd shout it out with great intensity.
yeah, great intensity..

Anyway, why am I so happy about?
The fact that I invited Dee (check out post '13 Jul, Fri - Guess what I've been doing') to the Japanese Exhibition in PTEB yesterday.
Yes, it's risky to bring an MD-ian (what we call people from Maktab Duli, the so-called 'rival school') to PTEB. But luckily I did my best to keep her from getting kicked out of the hall.

The main event of the exhibition is the Cosplay event. People dress up in costumes, introduce themselves and the characters they represent, and strike a pose.
Winners of the cosplay event are a couple dressed up in dark clothing.

"I am the Dark Angel", said the blacked wing angel.
She also speaks for the first place winner.. the Grimm Reaper..
"He does not speak your language, MORTAL!" spoke the angel to the presenter.

It's fun, the hall filled with the smell of noodles, the amazing display of exotic animals..
Can't wait for next year!
Maybe I'll bring Dee again too, but for now.. I've invited her to watch The Simpson's movie (and OMG, she said yes!)
And did I mention it's her birthday today?

"Oh really? That's great!" said Jenny.
"Well thanks! Keep it discrete! but you better tell David. Say sorry for me."
"Okay, bye!" and the line went dead.

13 Jul 2007: Friday
Went out on a movie date with Dijah last Friday. (and this is the part where people go "What, a date?! You went on a date?!")

Dee, if you're reading this, you still look gorgeous, especially with your hair like that.

Funny thing is that before and after the movie, I met a lot of friends (especially the ones I haven't seen in the while). So the hype over me being popular must be true(ego).

Well anyway, I had a great time and a good cheering up from the evil oppression of the numerous PTEB homework. Let me tell you what Nasreena said to me in the msn messenger:

Nas: So how is it?
Azzi: Uh, what?
Nas: The date
Azzi: Oh, it's ok. Had a fun time
Nas: :-)
Azzi: What? =)
Nas: It's nice to hear you're happy again.

True, everyone's asking "Zi, why do you look depressed?". Seriously, I don't know. My eyes kept drooping(remember Droopy the Dog?). Maybe the pressure I've been getting in school is taking its toll.
Then after Friday, I feel renew and livelier than before. I finally had a good sleep this week and I don't feel troubled in a school anymore.

Dee, if you're reading this.
Thanks for everything!

Sweet and Lovely to Die for one's Country

Monday, July 2, 2007
My last post wasn't meant to be a poem. To correct my friend.
I think I wrote it that way because I was happy, and that the nostalgia had made its way in my mind through the English Literature work I've been doing.

Well anyway, today's EngLit discussion was on 'An Indiscreet Journey', one of the infamously difficult short stories by Katharine Mansfield. Set in the First World War, a story of a young risktaker who goes to the frontlines in wartime France.
When we came across this part where came a blind man, who seems to be suffering from the effects of war, Mr Whitehead told us something we didn't realise.

MrW: "Why is the man blind, with watery eyes and is coughing?"
Our answers range from gunfire to gunpowder to explosions, but all of these weren't the case.
Mr W then wrote down in the whiteboard: MUSTARD GAS, and below CHLORINE GAS. Both will result in terrible effects to your eyes and lungs.

He then wrote again in the whiteboard:
"Dulce et Decorum est Pro Patria mori."
"How sweet and lovely it is to die for your country."

He recommended we read Wilfred Owen's Dulce et decorum est poem to read about the horrors of these gas attacks and its effects. I read it, of course, and I'll try to post the poem soon in this blog.

p.s. I plan to make a new blog where i can post poems for my own satisfaction, and to help with the 'E's I've been getting for my poem assignments. eheh
