Why do I have to get Tagged again? Atleast it's from Sarah and because she's a good kid, I'll reply to this one. Don't expect I'll be tagging anyone because I'm lazy naturally heheh. I think I've done this one before but you know what? There's still so many random things we all can talk about. I just know how to make it interesting ^^

1. I have a weapon ready in case of Burglaries, my guitar ^^

2. I look more like my dad, act like my dad, eat like my dad (serious!)

3. I have this thing about naming my stuff, like Mephistopheles (my acoustic guitar)

5. I like to marinate chicken with weird stuff with tasty results. Next recipe? Chicken and RootBeer, bwhahaha.

6. Most of you noticed. I ALWAYS wear BLACK. But I prefer the biker look than the current new age rocker fasion. Definitely NOT because I idolise Arnold Schwarzenegger (and I don't!)

7. I keep a notebook and drawing pad next to my bed. I write and draw to sleep.

8. I have this attraction to Dean ML guitars. Mainly because they ROCK!

9. Time to drop the bomb, the name planned for Zani and I if we weren't twins is ZUL JAMALUL IKRAM. Freaky eh?

10. In my Equinox movie reviews, I gave Iron Man 3.5 out of 5 which made me pretty much Public Enemy No.1 in school. I only gave one movie a full 5 out of 5 rating: The Dark Knight.

Merry Christmas

To my relatives in the Philippines and everyone who are celebrating tonight, Have a Jolly Good Christmas. It has been two years since my last Christmas in the Philippines and I can vaguely remember the scent of the feast then. The variety of Spaghetti then and the Christmas tree, and despite being no snow in Davao, it was still a night to remember.


Kaka Naj maybe having a blast in Japan with all the snow. I've always wanted to see snow and I can only dream of White Christmas. I hope someday the Ghost of Christmas Future would show me embracing the white soft sparkles with the lights of a Christmas tree to illuminate them.


All I want for Christmas? I want to spend it with my best friend who I've waited to call me for a long time. I want to have those hour long conversations that we had two years ago, the ones I enjoyed completely.

Please call, because I feel you're the only one I got.
I want to say Merry Christmas and what a dear friend you are close to my heart.

Daylight Robbery

I heard this song while I was in this songwriting phase. I kept thinking about a chorus that not only gets you everytime but also utters some phrase for ultimate relief. I had Hard Gay crying out, "Hooooo!" in my head for almost the rest of the car trip.

This song came from one of my mom's albums for driving. Imogen Heap's soft and serene voice was perfect for cruising and the album consists of almost every genre available. From RnB to epic pop. It wasn't until I heard Track no.7 'Daylight Robbery' when it finally caught my attention. It came as a surprise when the chorus came, I never thought a voice so small and simple could be so powerful in its own way. To get the idea, here's the live version below. It still has the same intensifying tune that catches you whenever you feel down. Just say, "Ha-oooo!"

More memories of Japan

Thank you Kaka for making another one. Part 2 is more upbeat and it has more crazy poses from myself and my sister. There we get to meet two of her classmates, Nazuna and Kyoko and we had the most fun time there. From Kyoto's Cinema Village to Kobe Harborland, they were such sweet memories.



Can't wait to go sightseeing in Japan again ^^

X men Origins: Wolverine trailer released!

Hugh Jackman returns with his sideburns in another mutant epic. I caught the first look in E! channel last night and I had to go look at it again. First of all, not only we have Wolverine as the main character, we have the whole Weapon X members in the team! Yes, I'm a diehard comic book fan and I can tell that they included even Maverick to Silver fox in here. They even included the Blob and Gambit.

Beach Days Forever!

It's the day of the promised BBQ party. After I ready the marinated chicken I left last night in the fridge, I went on to call Ash if he's up (turns out he wasn't up until I came by his house). It's good that Ash was there, I needed company when I drive to Muara Beach.

This is the Sixth time I went to Muara, 3rd time with company, but the morning is beautifully warm and perfect for the BBQ. The shade made the day seem so comforting with the cool breeze blowing from the sea. It's definitely the best beach day we had. We even took naps there.

Twilight Argument in Amal's Facebook profile : part 1

Amal will definitely freak out once she checks out her Facebook notifications, only to find 30+ of them from her status responses. Like what Abu said, the arguement all started with one word, "Ugh". Then it becomes a debate whether Twilight is worth watching and why men should not watch it.

While I try to get Nina to watch Twilight with me (so I wouldn't lose *macho points*), Nadine continues to argue for the film. Abu tags along and it becomes a 3 vs 1 battle debate, only to realise we are pitting at each other in Amal's social profile page. Hehehe, ehe beauty of social networks ^^

Memories of Japan

Fond days of Spring. Kaka sent a text message all the way from Japan about the video she made with the pictures when Mom and I were there. She was making it when she was here in Brunei and she said she's making it in three parts. The first part being the one below.


Thank you Kaka Naj for reminding us how amazing our time was in Kobe, Kyoto, and Himeji. Can't wait for the other vids ^^

Beach Days

Going to the beach is not simply a recreation. It is a place of rejuvenation where healing flows inside you like the gentle wave. It seeps into the skin like the blow of the cool breeze. You feel the sand crack under your feet and the wind carry your hair. You feel it touch your face and you breath in the fresh saltwater of the sea.

Meragang BeachSometimes we feel like going back to the beach and share it with our friends and family. We wonder what it feels like to be away from that urban lifestyle and we'd bring company so we won't go alone.

Berakas BeachSince exams are over, most of us would go to the beach to taste that natural enviroment again. Maybe it's because we once lived by the sea and because we remember it in our bones, we can almost sense a deep connection to it.

Naturally, we find comfort from staring at the lining between sea and sky and sometimes we would think when it ends. When we felt the warm water drench our feet, we could imagine our pain wash away and eventually get buried under the sand. Whenever you step on something upsetting, go wash your feet clean.

In the end, it's the sharing that made it feel good. Releasing our troubles together can be amazing. It teaches us that building new memories can distract us from the old ones. So we try to to enjoy it the best we can.

Muara BeachGoing out to the beach with your friends is always memorable. Even if you forget to bring your picnic basket, or a change of clothes, if you share happy memories it has meaning. When it's time to say goodbye, you want to leave Brunei as the happy place you remember it.

Faizul's last day

I almost forgot what the beach felt like during my exam month. I imagined the waves pulling and pushing me and the wind touching my face with its cool comforting hand. Of course, I'd never go there with bringing my friends and family because you need someone there to remind you and to prove that the happy memory existed.

That is why I can't wait for the 15th in Muara Beach. See you all there.

Picked up the Pencil again

I thought about the days I drew. When little boys played football with crushed cans and little girls talked and talked as means to escape the pressure of school and home. I left myself in a lonely corner with only a pencil and pieces of paper to keep me company.

Drawing is my escape, that's how I put it, from the harsh reality of growing up. I found solace in my doodles and shared it with no one. I am like a child who found comfort in imagination. The imagination, to me, is my most prized part of myself. It is a universe than nobody understood except me and that was enough.

It wasn't until years later that I learned to share this hobby openly, and it was my first step towards opening up to people. Most of my friends even joined in with the hobby, creating equal passion. It felt rejuvenating then, but it wasn't until I met two friends when Drawing became my whole world.

Daus and Jessie during our last time together
I was tremendously grateful when I met them. It was a life changing experience. Daus and I would try compare drawings and also try to draw our own styles of each others characters. Jessie, on the other hand, tagged along and we would talk about comic book ideas.

Even today Jessie still has her ideas pouring into her notebook. After the split between SMJA and SMR, Daus stayed in SMJA while Jessie and I went to the new school. This time, I tagged along with Jessie. I remember some of the conversations we had about Anime/manga Jessie and I had. Sometimes I'd make a face whenever she made her manga plots but I understood every word. We would draw and discuss and talk and have lunch everyday.

It was during these four years when my drawing hand began to fade. I lost touch of the pencil and ink that I almost completely forgotten the feel of the lead scratching on the white piece of paper. It was when I found other hobbies like guitars, good movies and complex books. I found Rugby and most importantly, I found love.

And it was during my heartache when I picked up the pencil again.

There was a saying I remember, 'Poets exploit their emotion', it was true that I found relief in pain as I weaved the thread through stories similar to my pain, then complex questions plague my head became the basis of my writing. Jessie even said they became more psychological, shifting the change from my earlier action oriented artworks. The more I drew, the more I realize that my absence in my imaginative universe had refined my skills.

Today, I see the world in the movement of my hand. I created reality from canvas to canvas and in them are stories with depth and issues. I wish Daus someday might come back so we can relive the past and talk about how much we changed.
