The BRFU under-18 championship continued on Friday after a week break for the Chinese New Year. The first game was between the two hot favorites for the championship, KB Combined schools and SOAS was played at 10.30 am and the new comers Sixth form Centre of Berakas took on Sharif Ali School at 4.00 pm. Both games were played in Berakas Camp.
The first match was played at a very high tempo. A lot of running plays with hard tackles. However, The SOAS boys got the better of the KB Combined school boys where SOAS beat KB combined schools 34-5.
The second game was not as beautiful as the first, where a penalty try was awarded to each team and 3 yellow cards were flashed to Sharif Ali school boys and one to the Sixth form Centre. The game was messy with a lot of silly errors. The debutants managed to overcome their nerves and beat Sharif Ali School 14-12.
After 3 weeks of play, KB combined school still leads the championship with 8 points but followed closely by SOAS with 7 points and one game in hand. In the third position is Awang Semaun School with one win with extra points followed by Sixth Form Centre, Berakas with 3 points. Sharif Ali School managed to earn their first point for the losing bonus (losing less than 7 points) and JIS without any points yet.
On table ranking, we're currently 4th place and on the 22nd feb, we will be against the SOAS Knights.
Considering our experience with SOAS, we know we won't back down on their challenge!
