Top 5 Favourite Cartoon TV show intros

Wednesday, November 26, 2008
Nostalgic, ain't it? All of these shows have turned into films lately and I thought back how their respective TV shows have catchy tunes, so catchy in fact you remember them even now.

5
Batman
The Animated Series is well known for challenging the very stereotype of cartoon heroes. There are not many shows that have the same gritty and dark atmosphere, almost limiting itself children, like Batman. The intro theme is a perfect reminder to the revered cartoon show.

4
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
How is it that you get a lame name for a cartoon and make the name so catchy just by singing the title 3 times? TMNT of course is one of our favourite cartoons and I remember whenever I catch an episode I would put my Michaelangelo mask on. Ah..yes, best memories.

3
Transformers Season 2
I remember whistling to the theme while I was waiting to watch the film. The season 2 theme song was memorable because it has beat, very catchy, real heroic in a way and it does not sound like robots singing (season 1). The song is stuck in my head for ages!

2
X-Men
Once, I believed no other cartoon can beat the X-men. Whether it's superman or spiderman, no one can beat the X-men. Whenever the theme song plays on television, it's like a quick jolt in my ears where I will come running to catch one of its episodes. Plus, it makes a really cool ringtone ^^

1
GI Joe
Ok, why no.1? It just so happens the song rings in my ears almost forever! First of all, it's like the Ultimate patriot song with an awesome 80s feel to it. It's funny, almost laughable, but you got to admit it was memorable. You could feel they are winning, I mean they are throwing Cobra and Destro about!

I bet if you watched the TV series years ago, then watch the Live-Action film years later, I bet the first thing that pop in your head is the theme song. Batman saw Six films with the Dark Knight being the greatest of them, TMNT saw Four films including the CG film, Transformers was recently released last year with its sequel coming in 2009 (that's right, summer next year!) and X-men already saw a Trilogy with the prequel, X-men Origin: Wolverines releasing on May 2009 (woot!).

All of them were made into films with the exception of GI JOE... oh, wait. I forgot ^^

We are horror film fans inside really. After some fooling around in Little M (hahaha, kid's store!) we ravaged through the masks like children but we found some awesome 'grown up' props for us. (NSFC - Not safe For Children)

I think I freaked out my sister with my mask. I can't help it! When I wear it, I feel so... ANGRY. I wonder where that Parang is?

Uniforms

I will definitely miss the Sixers. After my school year ends I'm going full time on Club Rugby for the future. That's right, I'll be back with the Bandar Blacks for training after my last exam.

I might never see the Maroon Jerseys ever again but maybe some day I'll come back as a guest with the other teammates and someday we, the All Stars will play together again in the field of battle in some tournament under the Sixers again. But this is time to look into the future. I have to stay sharp and in shape what ever obstacles lie ahead.

After the 21st I'm going to start fitness on getting ready for the Blacks. This prop can't stop when it comes to crushing bone and searing flesh out of your enemies. My gear is ready in my bedroom for the next tornado.

Madagascar : Escape 2 Africa

Tuesday, November 18, 2008
We are treated again with the funniest animals around. Catch Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Gloria the Hippo, and Melman the Giraffe in another hilarious adventure in Africa.

This film explores deeper into the theme of identity and boundaries. Melman is attracted to Gloria and Marty has no difficulty fitting in his kinds but the fact that they are all similiar (bloody sound the same!) takes a toll on the Zebra. Meanwhile, the central plot is when Alex returns to his pride. Will the King of New York be able to follow his father's footsteps?

The film brings back the same cast from the original with the addition of some big names like Alec Baldwin, the late Bernie Mac and Will.I.Am. Bernie Mac's character Zuba was very realistic when it comes to being the Alpha male and is always interrupted by his wife. Will.I.Am's character MotoMoto as well caught some fire (not literally!). But I have to say the scene stealer is got to be the Penguins. Their act is almost satirical and very impressive. I agree with everyone that they deserve a spin-off.

Overall, the whole film is the funniest I've seen lately. It is definitely not inferior to the first film, instead it was balanced and carried forward the same charm and comedy that everyone loves.

Quantum of Solace

Is James Bond back? I doubt so. After being mesmerized by the slick style of Casino Royale, I was excited to catch the film. However, despite being the sequel to one of the best spy films I've seen, it was just another action flick. No style.

It was just mindless! It didn't feel like a Bond film and it would have been no different if Vin Diesel played as Bond in the film. Don't get me wrong, Daniel Craig still had his new Bond charm but this emo look is too much.

Just Fields. (Who would call themselves Strawberry? No wonder you didn't say it..)

My biggest complaint was the lack of a recognizable foe. No bleeding eye, no iron teeth. All I see is short man and a Military General bent on domination. That my friends is too cliche. I'd rather have the eye bleeding gambler come back to life.

One particular scene, however, stands out from the rest of the film. Referenced as the Oilfinger scene, it is a homage to the older Bond film and honestly, this is the only scene that felt truly Bond.

My Latest Look

Sunday, November 16, 2008
I thought the Blog title is getting old and dull, so I took some time to think of how to change and design it. With the help of the photoshop I finally got it fixed. I thought I was going to make another failed attempt with the program but after I did the Sackboy drawing then I finally have the confidence I need to design it.

Myself wearing my favourite colours, my favourite Dean Guitar, and some Dimebag Lightning ^^

Now, to explain why I still take the simple approach. First of all, I don't want to complicate this blog. People design their blogs to the point it gets really difficult to visit. That is why I:

1. Don't add songs from Imeem (they start playing in auto, BIG no-no)
2. Never use user-made Blog Templates (Besides, it's not original).

Next to that, I like the Verdana font (and I've used it alot during the Comic Contest). So I kept my original title, because I still remember how passionate I was when I came up with that name, then added a small quote from Dante's Inferno. "Abandon all Hope, Ye who enter here"

I like it simple and original. There is no need for some slowing down, just instant access. Visitors don't check out your blog many times just to look at your template. A blog is all about what you write that defines yourself. There's some helpful advice from your favourite Blogger ^^

Oh yeah, here's a pic of me before leaving to Yean's party. I thought the guitar would help shape the 'rockstar' image better but mom liked it alot so she got me to pose for a few minutes. That's how I got the inspiration for the title.

That's right, My guitar TRULY has Wings

Whole Lotta Rosie

AC/DC is one of those bands that stay flawless as they age. Today I'm not going to touch on their latest album 'Black Ice'. I want to talk about their Greatest Album 'Let There Be Rock'. You can't find Back in Black in there but there are song that have an undeniable charm. My favourite being 'Highway to Hell' and of course, 'Whole Lotta Rosie'.

No other song written have been so passionate about obese woman. Even today, fans are still searching for that Rosie Bon Scott RIP talked about. Rosie, when it comes to lovin', she'll steal the show.

Wanna tell you a story
'Bout a woman I know
When it comes to lovin'
Oh, she steals the show
She ain't exactly pretty
She ain't exaclty small
42-39-56
You could say she's got it ALLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!

Never had a woman, never had a woman like you
Doin' all the things, doin' all the things you do
Ain't no fairy story
Ain't no skin-and-bones
But you give all you got, weighin' in at nineteen stone

You're a whole lotta woman
A whole lotta woman
I gotta whole lotta Rosie
A whole lotta Rosie
A whole lotta Rosie
I gotta whole lotta woman, yeah-yeah-yeah

Honey, you can do, do it to me all night long
Only one can turn, only one can turn me on
All through the night-time
Right around the clock
To my suprise, Rosie never stops

You're a whole lotta woman
A whole lotta woman
I gotta whole lotta Rosie
A whole lotta Rosie
A whole lotta Rosie
I gotta whole lotta woman, yeah-yeah-yeah

Ozzy Osbourne in Samsung Commercial

Trouble understanding Ozzy? This is hilarious! You've seen the other side of Ozzy that behind this Visage of Metal is a mumbling english man. No offense to Ozzy, Ozzy is still my absolute favourite rocker. Long live the Godfather of Metal.

Who watches the Watchmen? I do!

Related to post "Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes" Sunday, August 03, 2008

Again, I'm talking about the Watchmen. It has been 3 months since I wrote about the first trailer. There's some new footage of the film and it proves Zack Snyder true, that he'd make the film as true to the comic as possible (like he did with 300, but how true will it be? Will he add another subplot?)

The Comedian, Ozymandias, Nite Owl, Silk Spectre and Rorsharch.

There is a new trailer released and I can make out all of the scenes in the trailer from the comic book. Neat huh? Really, this comic is the best among all comic books!

Keep watching to see the Twilight trailer ^^

Let's see if I can remember the scenes right. If Zack Snyder copied the film page by page, then it's like watching the movie already!

HEAR BE SPOILERS!

0:21 - Manhattan and Laurie/Silk Spectre after the destruction
0:24 - Manhattan came to being
0:36 - Rorsharch after the murder
0:42 - The police riots before the ban.
0:49 - The Comedian when the US 'won' the Vietnam War
1:03 - Dan Dreiberg/Nite Owl gets it on with Laurie Juspeczyk/Silk Spectre. O_O
1:08 - Manhattan, the reason for winning the Vietnam War
1:16 - Laurie Juspeczyk in disbelief after she hears the truth
1:20 - Manhattan crashing through the Antarctic base.
1:30 - The murder that started it all.

What else? Watch the movie coming out next year!

Feel the fury of my Sackboy!

Monday, November 10, 2008
I'm currently playing Little Big Planet for the PS3 (don't worry, I'm lightening up my game time this month). It's just so cool! You can make anything out of the stuff you find in the game!

Best of all? You can costume your Sackboy or Sackgirl (that's you!) like it's your favourite doll! Awww.. I love my little Sackboy so much I drew him a portrait.

I shall name you Satan, after one of the greatest heroes in epic poetry ^_^

Now I'm off to create a burning effigy used for god worship so I can crash it with a flying submarine ^_^ Coolness.

Omi Gibson

Wednesday, November 5, 2008
Cosplay may not be my thing, but it's still superb art form. I want to talk about one cosplayer who I think stands out from all the rest. She could may be the greatest. I'm talking about a Japanese Cosplayer named Omi Gibson. What I find most striking (as did many other people) is her very realistic portrayal of anime and game characters. Some might be trying too hard, but Omi Gibson is an expert in making her costume, well, believable.

Here are some examples of her work. I like them so much, I arranged them according to what I find is the best.

Motoko Kusanagi from GITS

I don't think this is her best effort but the way she poses for the camera, you could tell she is working hard to capture the same essence that the character that she portray has.

Saya from Blood+

She must be the master of making grim pictures. The blood on her cheek and the fearsome colors of her eyes can almost make her a live action TV star.

Nurse from Silent Hill 3

Look at the dried blood all over her uniform! You could tell her effort to making the costume as true as possible!

Jill Valentine from RE3

Picking the right materials and the right props and the right wig, you can make gamers fall for you.

Cyborg Ninja from MGS1

This is one of her attempts to play a male character. See how she picks the right lenses and the material of her costume to make it appear realistic yet comfortable.

Meryl from MGS1

This one is a photo genius! She copied the pose with exquisite detail and used darker shades to create a movie like interpretation of the game character. We all love to dream for a Metal Gear Solid film.

The Joy from MGS3

Her most well known costume. The tone of her skin beautifully fits to the costume. This is a perfect example of imitating your favourite character then making them your own.

Revy from Black Lagoon

I love Black Lagoon, and the first time I saw Omi Gibson was this picture of her as Revy. I've never seen such a cosplayer who could not only portray such an insane character but also act like one. If there was ever a Black Lagoon live action film, I'd rather have her or anyone with her skill to portray the gun-slinging Revy.
